One of the many things Jōōk has stressed is our support for artists and musicians; mainly those who are up and coming or overlooked by the mainstream. It's the listeners' duty to demand and share better music, lyrics, and creativity. No matter what genre, music creates an aesthetic that connects with the soul. So it was only right that we featured Columbus, Ohio's very own,Tae Fresh as our first profiled artist. Devonte Johnson, also known as Tae Fresh is the hottest sound to come from North Columbus. This rising artist has already released four impressive full length projects and fans are anxiously anticipating his upcoming EP Fresh Start. Although he hasn't announced a release date, Tae has kept the fans excited by dropping several freestyles since his most recent EP Chances.

We spoke with Tae and when asked what inspired him most he told us, "Everything I go through inspires me. I have a unique story to tell and I know lots of people can relate. My motivation comes from the people who sleep on me".Often times lyrical artists put their experiences in their music. When asked what message he wanted his music to deliver he said, "You always have to grind. Never stop. It's gonna get rough and friends may change, but you gotta remain solid with everything you do; relationships streets etc".

After receiving over 250k plays from his hit song "Run it Up", Tae has continued to give us fire. From a local artist to the BET awards to his most recent tour with Lil Uzi and Power 107.5, Tae Fresh is on the way to the top. As an independent artist, Tae is able to have total control over his artistry and versatile style of rapping and singing. Yet, we have no doubt that he'll be in radio rotation in the near future.
